An Assistant Director in the Karnataka Social Welfare Department, Mallikarjun, died by suicide just before his retirement. He left a video accusing a senior official of harassment, which he shared with colleagues before taking his life in Pavagada. Mallikarjun mentioned in the video that the Joint Director, Krishnappa, was the reason behind his extreme decision.
Pavagada police have initiated an investigation into the incident. Mallikarjun’s tragic death unveils a poignant connection as his father, who also worked in the same department, passed away shortly before his retirement. Mallikarjun had joined the department on compassionate grounds after his father’s demise.
Chandrashekharan P, an Accounts Superintendent at the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation, also died by suicide in a similar manner in Shivamogga. His suicide note cited harassment by colleagues for transferring funds to unauthorized accounts.
