Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao reassured the public on Saturday, stating that the state government has taken necessary steps to prevent an Ebola outbreak. He emphasized that there is no need for panic as no Ebola cases have been reported in India or neighboring countries. People arriving from African nations like Uganda and Congo will be monitored for 21 days and advised to report any symptoms.
Rao urged the public to ignore rumors and highlighted that guidelines have been issued by both state and central governments to tackle Ebola. Additionally, he criticized the rise in petrol prices, attributing it to the Centre’s economic policies. He expressed concerns about potential economic challenges in the future, citing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s prior warnings.
The Minister criticized the current government’s handling of the economic situation, accusing them of not providing clear solutions. He pointed out discrepancies in petrol pricing strategies, alleging that the Centre has failed to alleviate the burden on citizens despite fluctuating global oil prices. Rao also criticized the government for not reducing taxes during times of low international oil prices.
Regarding the NEET examination issue, Rao stated that Karnataka is prepared to conduct the exam at the state level if authorized by the Centre. He criticized the Centre for its handling of NEET exams, citing past incidents of student suicides and parental distress. Rao expressed confidence in Karnataka’s ability to effectively manage NEET exams if given the opportunity.
