Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara addressed the media, stating that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process would commence in the state. Emphasizing caution, he highlighted the importance of preventing incidents similar to those in West Bengal from occurring in Karnataka. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already convened a meeting on this issue, with mapping activities underway in some areas.
Parameshwara mentioned his inability to attend a recent SIR-related meeting due to various reasons. Referring to alleged manipulations in West Bengal, he stressed the need to avoid such occurrences in Karnataka to ensure fair elections. Instructions have been issued to party workers and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to oversee the voter list updates diligently.
Discussing preparations for an upcoming event in Tumakuru city marking three years of the Congress government, Parameshwara highlighted initiatives by the Revenue Department. Noting the distribution of property documents to thousands of individuals, he described this as a significant accomplishment for the Karnataka government. Plans are in place to distribute property documents to 1.40 lakh people as part of the ongoing program.
Reflecting on the completion of three years in office, Parameshwara mentioned the government’s achievements in fulfilling over 50% of the manifesto promises. He acknowledged the need for a review of these accomplishments. When asked about a potential Cabinet reshuffle, he reiterated that it is a decision to be made by the party high command.
