Parameshwara stated that if any Bangladeshis are found residing in demolished areas, they will be promptly arrested and deported. Parameshwara emphasized the need for thorough verification before providing compensation or housing to ensure no illegal immigrants benefit from the scheme.
He highlighted that the authorities would meticulously check the backgrounds of all beneficiaries to prevent any irregularities. Parameshwara assured continuous efforts to identify and deport illegal immigrants, not limited to Bengaluru but also extending to areas like coffee estates. The process of verification will be ongoing to address any instances of illegal residency in the state.
Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, had raised concerns about the government’s decision to construct houses for land encroachers, warning against potential repercussions. He criticized the alleged favoritism towards outsiders over local residents in housing schemes, questioning the unprecedented speed of approvals in Karnataka’s history.
Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje called for a thorough investigation into illegal migration into Karnataka, urging collaborative action against illegal migrants involved in criminal activities. She specifically highlighted the need to identify and deport Rohingyas, emphasizing the importance of interdepartmental cooperation in addressing the issue.
