Karnataka, Jharkhand, Andhra, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir have advanced to the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals following successful outcomes in their seventh round league matches. Karnataka’s captain, Devdutt Padikkal, played a pivotal role by scoring an unbeaten 120 off 85 balls to guide his team to a remarkable chase of 250 runs in just 27.5 overs against Punjab, securing the final quarter-final berth.
Saurashtra’s hopes for the quarter-finals relied on Karnataka not winning in Mohali, but Padikkal’s exceptional performance dashed those hopes. In another group, Jharkhand, Andhra, and Vidarbha were tied at the top with 31 points each, but bonus point wins determined their progression, with Jharkhand leading with three points.
Uttarakhand also secured a spot in the quarter-finals after defeating Assam by an innings and 42 runs. Their victory was fueled by Mayank Mishra’s 6-86 bowling performance and captain Kunal Chandela’s double-century in the first innings. Jammu & Kashmir advanced as the second-best team in their group after Mumbai’s draw with Delhi.
