Karnataka’s Home Minister, Priyank Kharge, has once again criticized the RSS, expressing concerns over the Centre’s foreign policy amidst US-Iran tensions. Kharge accused the government of lacking a clear foreign policy direction, alleging it to be influenced by US President Donald Trump. He also questioned the RSS’s role in shaping India’s foreign policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kharge highlighted issues with India’s preparedness during international crises, citing inadequate planning. He criticized the Centre for not adjusting fuel prices proportionately to global crude oil fluctuations. Additionally, he raised doubts about the Ministry of External Affairs’ effectiveness and questioned the benefits of Modi’s foreign engagements for ordinary Indians.
The Minister also took aim at RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s population remarks, accusing the organization of hypocrisy. Kharge questioned the credibility of the RSS’s stance on family planning, particularly criticizing their advice on childbearing while claiming celibacy. He demanded accountability from RSS affiliates involved in controversies and called for public apologies instead of mere press statements.
In response to BJP MLA S.R. Vishwanath’s association with criminal elements, Kharge condemned the BJP’s alleged ties with criminals. He warned of strict action against officials found associating with criminals, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy within his department. Kharge expressed skepticism towards the Central government’s handling of these issues, indicating a lack of expectations for resolution.
