After Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy resigned from the Cabinet due to portfolio dissatisfaction, BJP leaders criticized the ruling Congress, suggesting the state might face an early election due to a potential government collapse.
Ramalinga Reddy, Minister for Water Resources, resigned from the Karnataka Cabinet, citing Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s failure to honor a promise regarding the Bengaluru Urban portfolio.
In another development, veteran Congress leader and Minister K.H. Muniyappa expressed discontent over the allocation of the Food and Civil Supplies Department and declared he would not take charge of the ministry.
Karnataka BJP President, B.Y. Vijayendra, accused the Congress of becoming a “laughing stock” and highlighted internal conflicts among senior Congress Cabinet ministers within 48 hours of the new Chief Minister taking office.
Vijayendra suggested that the state might be heading towards an early election due to the ongoing infighting within the government, emphasizing people’s disillusionment with the current administration.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the absence of a woman MLA as a Minister in the Cabinet, questioning the Congress’s commitment to women empowerment.
He noted that the government’s focus seemed to be on power rather than the welfare of the people, despite the initial expectations of development with the new Chief Minister in office.
