On December 21, a man in Inanveerapur village reportedly murdered his daughter in an honor killing case. The victim’s husband, Vivekanand Doddamani, and his family were also assaulted by the girl’s father and relatives. Several family members sustained injuries during the attack.
The police investigation revealed that the victim, Manya Patil, a Lingayat, had married Vivekananda, a Dalit, from the same village. Despite initial threats of suicide from Manya, the couple got married and tried to settle in their village. However, ongoing tensions between their families led to the tragic incident.
