Karnataka Ministers M.B. Patil and M.C. Sudhakar participated in a reception in Bengaluru honoring King Charles III’s birthday, emphasizing the strong ties between Karnataka and the UK. The event, hosted by the office of the British Deputy High Commissioner Chandru Iyer at the Taj West End, was graced by government officials, industry representatives, and members of the diplomatic community. Minister M.B. Patil highlighted the longstanding relationship between Karnataka and the UK, especially in industry and investment, during his address at the event.
Minister Patil mentioned his recent trip to London where he engaged with industrial leaders, urging them to invest in Karnataka. He pointed out the presence of several British companies in the state, contributing significantly to its economic growth. Discussions were also held with representatives from renowned academic institutions like Imperial College London and the University of Liverpool.
Minister for Higher Education M.C. Sudhakar emphasized the collaboration between Karnataka and the UK in higher education through twinning programs that facilitate student exchanges and academic partnerships. He noted that 30 students are benefiting from these programs this year, similar to the previous year, enabling them to pursue studies abroad. The state government, according to Sudhakar, is keen on enhancing skill development and fostering international academic relationships to broaden global opportunities for students from Karnataka.
King Charles III, born on November 14, 1948, at Buckingham Palace in London, England, is the eldest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He initiated the Prince’s Trust in 1976 with his severance pay from the Royal Navy and has since established 16 more charitable organizations, serving as President of each. King Charles III is also known for his blood donations to raise awareness for health causes.
