Karnataka’s Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar and Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa have strongly criticized the Central government regarding the alleged NEET UG 2026 exam question paper leak. They expressed concerns about the credibility of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and demanded accountability from the BJP-led Union government. Sudhakar described the incident as “very unfortunate” and emphasized the need to address the repeated irregularities that have raised doubts about the NTA’s credibility.
Sudhakar highlighted the impact on students, mentioning that over 22.5 lakh candidates who took the NEET exam had already faced significant mental stress. He questioned the necessity of a CBI inquiry at this stage, considering the hardship students have already endured and the additional stress they would face if the exam had to be retaken. Sudhakar stressed the need for stringent laws to punish those responsible for such paper leaks, acknowledging the immense pressure faced by medical aspirants.
Targeting the BJP, Sudhakar called for accountability from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union government, urging them to take responsibility for the situation. Education Minister Bangarappa also criticized the Central government for the alleged paper leak, expressing concern over the injustice done to students due to repeated irregularities in the examination process. He questioned the opposition and highlighted the impact on students’ future due to the mismanagement and poor administration at the Centre.
Bangarappa took a dig at the Centre, criticizing their actions in an apparent reference to symbolic campaigns undertaken during previous national initiatives. The NTA has announced the cancellation of the NEET (UG) 2026 exam conducted on the 3rd of this month, citing student interests and the trust in the national examination system. The government has decided to hand over the matter to the CBI for a thorough investigation into the alleged paper leak.
