Karnataka’s Leader of Opposition, R. Ashoka, praised the Centre’s decision to crack down on exam paper leaks, emphasizing zero tolerance for jeopardizing students’ futures. He highlighted the Union government’s commitment, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to protect honest and hardworking students nationwide. A proposal for strict penalties on leak perpetrators and the establishment of fast-track courts will be deliberated in the Union Cabinet meeting, with a subsequent Bill expected in Parliament.
Ashoka affirmed that stringent measures will be implemented to eradicate the paper leak issue, emphasizing severe consequences for those involved in such malpractices. The proposed legislation aims to ensure swift justice and deter exam-related offenses through a specialized judicial process. He reiterated the government’s resolve, under PM Modi’s leadership, to safeguard students’ interests and maintain the integrity of the examination system.
The Opposition Leader accused the Congress government in Karnataka of imposing multiple price hikes, particularly on Nandini ghee and butter, prompting threats of statewide protests. Ashoka criticized the recurrent price increases, citing a cumulative rise of Rs 9 per litre in milk prices over the past 20 months. He detailed the successive hikes, highlighting the recent revisions in ghee and butter prices.
Ashoka questioned the rationale behind the latest price adjustments, expressing concerns about the impact on farmers and consumers. He urged the government to reconsider the hikes, suggesting they could exacerbate financial burdens on the poor and middle class. The Opposition Leader warned of intensified protests by the BJP against the Congress government’s policies, alleging a lack of benefit to farmers and consumers.
