Karnataka Police have solved the suitcase murder case on the outskirts of Bengaluru by arresting the 21-year-old suspect, identified as Gagan. The police formed a special team that identified the deceased elderly woman and captured the accused within 24 hours, according to South West Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Anita Haddannavar.
Authorities are currently gathering scientific evidence and reviewing CCTV footage as part of the ongoing investigation. The accused, who was a neighbor of the victim, allegedly killed her, stole her gold jewelry, placed her body in a suitcase, and disposed of it in a lake. The exact details leading to the murder are still being determined, with the case remaining under investigation.
The victim, identified as 61-year-old Jayamma from Challaghatta, was found inside a suitcase recovered from Ramohalli Lake in Bengaluru. Local residents spotted the suitcase in the lake, prompting a police team to retrieve it and discover the woman’s body inside. The police believe the body had been in the lake for two to three days before being found.
Following the discovery, Jayamma’s son reported her missing after she failed to return home on July 16. Despite extensive searches, she could not be located, leading the family to seek police assistance. Senior police officials, including DCP Anita Haddannavar, visited the scene to investigate further, examining Jayamma’s movements and potential motives behind her murder.
