The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) expressed disappointment as Bengaluru lost the opportunity to host the IPL 2026 playoffs and final. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Ahmedabad would host the final, with Dharamshala and New Chandigarh hosting the other playoff games.
In an official statement, KSCA mentioned its efforts to secure the hosting rights for the matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad personally contacted the BCCI to express the association’s eagerness to host the IPL Playoffs.
Highlighting its successful track record this season, KSCA emphasized the positive feedback received for the well-managed IPL matches in Bengaluru. The association’s communication with the BCCI focused on operational transparency regarding match arrangements and protocols.
Despite its disappointment, KSCA acknowledged the BCCI’s decision and respected their authority in assigning the matches to other venues. While the association did not receive a formal explanation for the decision, they fully respected the BCCI’s right to make the final call.
