Hours before the release of director R J Balaji’s action thriller ‘Karuppu’ starring Suriya, the morning shows scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m. have been canceled. The Tamil Nadu government had allowed one extra show at 9 a.m. on May 14 and May 15 for the film. However, due to financial problems, the morning shows on May 14 have been called off.

Dream Warrior Pictures, the film’s production house, shared a tweet from the film’s producer S R Prabhu announcing the cancellation of the 9 a.m. shows. The tweet mentioned, “Due to unavoidable reasons, 9 a.m. shows will be cancelled for Karuppu. Our sincere apologies to everyone!”

Negotiations to resolve the financial issues continued late into Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. This led to the decision to cancel the morning shows on Thursday. Fans and movie enthusiasts were eagerly anticipating the film, especially after a teaser was released on Suriya’s birthday last year.

The teaser introduced Suriya’s character as a lawyer named Saravanan, also known as Karuppu. It hinted at the film being a commercial entertainer with action-packed sequences and powerful dialogues. Actress Trisha plays the female lead, with other notable actors like Indrans, Sshivada, Swasika, Yogi Babu, and Natty in key roles. The film boasts music by Sai Abhyankar and cinematography by GK Vishnu, known for his work in popular films like ‘Bigil’ and ‘Mersal’.
