Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to India, Azamat Yeskarayev, met with Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat in Gandhinagar to explore collaboration in energy, education, agriculture, and industrial investment. Both sides delved into the historical and strategic aspects of India-Kazakhstan relations, emphasizing the deep-rooted ties dating back almost 2,000 years.
Governor Devvrat highlighted the ancient civilizational connections between the regions, mentioning the historical travels of Indian Buddhist monks to Central Asia, promoting peace and harmony. Energy security was a key focus, with Kazakhstan holding a significant portion of the world’s uranium reserves and being a major uranium supplier to India for its nuclear energy program.
The discussion also touched on agriculture and public health, with an emphasis on natural farming practices to counter the health risks associated with chemical-intensive agriculture. Governor Devvrat showcased Gujarat’s industrial growth, particularly in sectors like semiconductors, energy, chemicals, and automobiles, highlighting key projects like GIFT City and Dholera Industrial City.
Education ties were underscored, with around 9,000 to 10,000 Indian students pursuing medical studies in Kazakhstan. The Ambassador noted Kazakhstan’s reliance on Indian healthcare and medical equipment imports, reflecting a growing partnership in the healthcare sector. Both sides expressed interest in enhancing economic and trade cooperation, with a focus on renewable energy and future engagements like the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
