Kent County Cricket Club has confirmed the signing of South African all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy for the upcoming 2026 county season. Muthusamy will participate in the full 20-over campaign and will be available for eight County Championship matches. He is set to join the team on May 22 for the commencement of the T20 Blast and will continue with them until the season concludes.
Muthusamy expressed his excitement about the opportunity, stating, “I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing County Championship & Vitality Blast cricket for the first time at a Club with a long history. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Kent from my teammates who have played there before, and I’m relishing the opportunity to make contributions with bat and ball in a Kent shirt.”
At 31 years old, Muthusamy was part of South Africa’s victorious squad in the 2025 World Test Championship at Lord’s. With experience in eight Tests, five ODIs, and five T20Is, he has an impressive record of 10 first-class centuries in 115 games and has taken 81 wickets in T20s at an average of 6.62. His notable performance includes scoring his first Test century against India last year, contributing to South Africa’s series win.
Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, expressed satisfaction with Muthusamy’s signing, highlighting his versatility and experience. Cook emphasized Muthusamy’s potential to enhance the team’s performance across different formats and his role in mentoring young players, particularly in aiding the development of left-handed batter and spinner Jaydn Denly.
