Kerala experienced no power cuts on Tuesday, as the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) managed to avert widespread outages despite increased demand. The KSEB clarified concerns raised by some media outlets regarding alleged load shedding in the state. The utility explained that any power restrictions imposed were brief and localized, aimed at ensuring network stability.
In a recent statement, the KSEB highlighted its success in maintaining uninterrupted power supply across most areas of Kerala. The board secured an additional 200 megawatts of power approved by the Regulatory Commission and restored another 200 megawatts from central generating stations. Although some regions received rainfall, electricity demand remained high throughout the day, with total usage reaching 116.5 million units.
While most parts of the state enjoyed uninterrupted power supply, minor curbs were reported in specific locations late at night due to technical issues. Line overload caused temporary restrictions in the Malabar region, including areas like Kasaragod and Thalassery. Additionally, brief disruptions occurred in the Areekode–Manjeri belt and eastern Kunnamangalam due to transformer load issues. Officials confirmed that only isolated pockets experienced power constraints, with no widespread restrictions in other regions.
The Kerala State Electricity Board’s recent clarification aims to address public concerns about power availability during the peak summer season.
