Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar clarified on Monday that the party has not taken a stand against Nair Service Society (NSS) General Secretary G. Sukumaran Nair. He emphasized that the BJP respects the autonomy of community organizations and has no intention of interfering in their internal matters. The NSS, a prominent socio-cultural group in Kerala representing the Hindu Nair community, holds significant social and political sway in the state.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar refuted claims of discord between the BJP and NSS leadership as inaccurate and baseless. He expressed admiration for both the organization and its General Secretary, highlighting his personal bond with Sukumaran Nair. Chandrasekhar underscored the BJP’s regard for the NSS and its efforts in advancing the welfare of Nair community members, acknowledging their commendable contributions.
Addressing the controversy surrounding the appointment of the Sabarimala Thantri, Rajeev Chandrasekhar stressed that the issue is non-political. He emphasized that any public remarks made by BJP representatives on the matter are personal opinions and do not reflect the party’s official stance. Chandrasekhar also criticized the handling of the Sabarimala situation, alleging discrepancies in the treatment of key figures involved.
The BJP leader accused the UDF government of protecting the Left leadership in the Sabarimala case. He pledged to stand alongside devotees in safeguarding the temple’s traditions, customs, and rituals through peaceful democratic means. Chandrasekhar affirmed the party’s commitment to upholding the sanctity of Sabarimala and ensuring the preservation of its cultural heritage.
