Fresh from winning the top post in the Congress, Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan is set to travel to New Delhi for meetings with party high command. Satheesan will meet Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and party President Mallikarjuna Kharge on Saturday. After the Delhi visit, he will return to Kochi and come back to the state capital on Monday.
The visit is seen as a gesture of gratitude to the Congress leadership after Satheesan’s victory in the Kerala Chief Minister race. Despite tough competition from senior leaders like K. C. Venugopal and Ramesh Chennithala, Satheesan emerged victorious. He was sworn in as Chief Minister on Monday and promptly formed a 21-member Cabinet to establish his authority early on.
Satheesan is not expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during this visit. However, sources suggest that he might return to Delhi later for official meetings related to Kerala’s development priorities. This visit is significant as it shows the Congress high command’s commitment to closely engaging with the new Kerala government during its initial phase.
