A couple from Kerala, A.C. Thomas (57) and Loveni Thomas (56), tragically lost their lives in a speedboat accident off Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island. The incident, which claimed a total of 15 Indian tourists, occurred when the boat capsized in rough seas near Hon May Rut Ngoai Island.

The victims’ deaths have deeply impacted their hometown and the business community. The speedboat, operated by Ocean Pier Island Company, overturned during its return journey to An Thoi Port, with 32 Indian tourists and four crew members on board. Despite rescue efforts, 15 Indian tourists perished in the accident.

Following the tragedy, Vietnamese authorities launched a large-scale rescue operation involving military, police, and emergency responders. The Kerala government has intensified support for the affected families, with Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan coordinating efforts to assist in repatriation and provide necessary aid to the injured and their loved ones.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed condolences to the families of the victims, emphasizing the coordination between Indian and Vietnamese authorities for medical treatment and repatriation arrangements.
