In response to serious evaluation errors in a recruitment exam for the State Planning Board, the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) has decided to cancel the current rank list. An internal vigilance inquiry has been initiated by the PSC to investigate the evaluation lapses and potential violations of assessment procedures. The controversy arose when it was discovered that 10 descriptive questions in the exam had not been evaluated. This revelation has led to concerns about the fairness of the assessment process and calls for corrective measures.
The examination, part of a recruitment process for senior Planning Board positions in Kerala, involved 228 candidates vying for high-paying government roles. The irregularities came to light after candidates obtained copies of their answer sheets through Right to Information requests. Scrapping the rank list and launching an internal probe are steps taken to address the seriousness of the situation and restore trust in the recruitment process.
The outcome of the inquiry will determine accountability within the PSC and aim to rebuild confidence in the state’s recruitment system. The state government is closely monitoring the situation, following the standard procedure of internal vigilance investigations in response to complaints.
