Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen commended Heinrich Klaasen for his outstanding 65-run innings that contributed to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s win over Mumbai Indians. Pietersen suggested that the South African cricket board should consider including Klaasen in the national team for the ODI World Cup in 2027.
Klaasen, who batted at number four and beyond, played a crucial role in the match with his quick 65 runs off just 30 balls, including seven boundaries and four sixes. Sunrisers Hyderabad successfully chased down the target of 244 with eight balls to spare, thanks to Klaasen’s performance.
Pietersen expressed his belief that Klaasen could be a key player for South Africa in their quest to win their first-ever World Cup, especially with the upcoming tournament scheduled to be held in South Africa next year. The victory marked Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fifth consecutive win of the season, propelling them to the third position on the points table.
Klaasen, reflecting on his contribution to the team’s victory, emphasized the importance of supporting the openers and acknowledged the team’s strong performance in the high-scoring chase. He highlighted the team’s collective effort and expressed optimism about replicating their success in future matches.
