Khalin Joshi secured his seventh professional title by carding a two-under 69 at the Andhra Open Golf Championship held at the East Point Golf Club in Visakhapatnam. He finished at nine-under 275, claiming victory with a comfortable four-stroke lead. Joshi, based in Bengaluru and aged 33, earned Rs 15 lakh for his win and moved up to 12th place on the 2026 PGTI Order of Merit.
Chandigarh’s Akshay Sharma, a two-time tour winner, finished as the runner-up with a course-record final round of six-under 65. Sharma, with rounds of 70-70-74-65, ended the tournament at five-under 279, four shots behind the winner. Notably, the par-5 seventh hole was adjusted to a 477-yard par-4 for the event, reducing the course par to 71.
Joshi, starting the final round with a three-shot lead at seven-under, closed with a two-under 69, securing his first title in over 44 months. Despite facing some challenges, Joshi showcased steady play and timely recoveries throughout the round. He maintained his lead since round two and managed the pressure effectively to clinch the victory.
Reflecting on his performance, Joshi acknowledged feeling nervous but emphasized his patience and trust in his process. He highlighted his strong ball-striking skills during the week, mentioning consistent driving and accurate iron shots. Although facing some putting struggles, Joshi’s ability to hit greens made a significant difference in his win.
Runner-up Akshay Sharma impressed with a course record final round of 65, marked by seven birdies and a single bogey. Saptak Talwar and Yash Majmudar tied for third place at four-under 280, with Talwar extending his lead in the DP World PGTI Rankings. The tour now shifts to Hyderabad for the Boulders Classic at Boulder Hills Golf & Country Club from April 14–17.
