Kickstart FC clinched their second win in the Indian Women’s League 2025-26 by defeating Sesa Football Academy 3-1 in Kolkata. Nigerian forward Emem Peace Essien scored a hat-trick (2’, 61’, 90+3’) to lead Kickstart to victory, while Aniela Barretto (17’) scored for Sesa FA.
Despite both teams being in the relegation zone, Kickstart is just one point behind Gokulam Kerala in sixth place, giving them a good chance to avoid relegation in Phase 2. On the other hand, Sesa FA has only one point from seven matches and is still seeking their first top-flight win.
Kickstart took an early lead when Emem capitalized on a mistake by Sesa goalkeeper Beatrice Nketia in the second minute. The game saw Sesa fighting back with Aniela scoring against the run of play.
In the second half, Kickstart maintained control, with Emem scoring her second goal just after the hour mark. Despite their dominance, Kickstart missed clear opportunities in the final third, with Sesa also struggling to create chances.
Emem sealed the victory for Kickstart in injury time by scoring her third goal, securing a 3-1 win over Sesa.
