Three individuals were wounded in a knife assault in Paris, with a male perpetrator taken into custody. The incident occurred in northwestern Paris around 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Armed with two kitchen knives, the attacker targeted pedestrians on the street, resulting in two victims being in critical condition. The suspect, who provided a self-reported identity and made incoherent statements, was apprehended at the scene by an off-duty police officer. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez emphasized the need for caution in determining the motives behind the violent act. The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office in France is overseeing the situation. Social media has been flooded with various videos of the attack, one of which shows the suspect making a religious statement while being restrained.

The knife attack in Paris follows a similar incident in Germany where an Islamic radical attack occurred, resulting in one fatality and 29 injuries. In Berlin, a van was driven into a crowd near Tiergarten park, followed by the driver assaulting bystanders with what is believed to be a machete. The suspect in the Berlin attack was shot dead by the police in the Spandau district. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect charged at officers with a stabbing weapon, leading to the use of lethal force. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt indicated that the Berlin incident was suspected to be an “Islamist terrorist attack.”
