Three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have selected Rinku Singh as their vice-captain for the upcoming 2026 season. Singh, known for his explosive batting and sharp fielding, has been a key player for KKR, bringing leadership experience from domestic circuits and previous IPL seasons.
Venky Mysore, CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders, expressed the franchise’s excitement about Singh’s appointment, highlighting his consistent presence in the team since joining in 2018. KKR, under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, will kick off their IPL 2026 campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The team’s first home match is scheduled against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 2, followed by clashes with Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants on April 6 and 9, respectively. KKR is currently conducting trials during their pre-season camp to finalize replacements for injured pacers, including Harshit Rana.
KKR recently brought in Vidarbha pacer Saurabh Dubey as a replacement for the injured Akash Deep, who had to withdraw from the competition due to a stress reaction in his lower back. Dubey, who was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022 but had his stint cut short by a back injury, is yet to make his IPL debut.
