Kolkata Knight Riders’ captain, Ajinkya Rahane, has been fined Rs 12 lakh for a slow over-rate during their recent IPL match against Chennai Super Kings. This penalty was imposed as it was the team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct. Noor Ahmad and Anshul Kamboj took five wickets together as Chennai Super Kings secured their second win in the IPL, moving up to the eighth position in the standings.
Defending a total of 192/5, CSK controlled the game, limiting KKR to 160/7 in 20 overs despite resistance from Ramandeep Singh and Rovman Powell. KKR altered their opening pair, with Sunil Narine partnering Finn Allen instead of Rahane. Narine made an early impact with two sixes, but KKR struggled as CSK’s bowlers dominated.
Ramandeep Singh top-scored with 35 runs, and Rovman Powell’s unbeaten 31 provided some hope for KKR. However, CSK’s strong start with Sanju Samson, Ayush Mhatre, and Dewald Brevis ensured their victory. This win marks CSK’s second consecutive triumph, while KKR continues to face challenges in their batting performance.
