Kolkata Police arrested an employee of a popular bar-cum-restaurant in Park Street for allegedly serving beef instead of goat meat to YouTuber Sayak Chakraborty. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the YouTuber at Park Street Police Station. A senior officer of Kolkata Police mentioned that a case has been registered against the accused, and an investigation is ongoing.
Sayak Chakraborty visited the bar-cum-restaurant Olypub with two friends, where they ordered mutton steak but were reportedly served beef. Sayak later shared a video of the incident on social media, which quickly gained traction online. In the video, Sayak expressed his dissatisfaction, emphasizing his Brahmin background and questioning the serving of beef to him.
The incident drew criticism from the BJP, with Keya Ghosh, a party leader, condemning the restaurant’s actions. Ghosh highlighted the incident involving Sayak and his friends, where they were served beef steak instead of mutton. The BJP leader pointed out the subsequent attempts by the waiter and manager to rectify the mistake, questioning why Hindus are often targeted in such situations.
