Kolkata Police have detained two additional individuals in relation to the recent clash between two factions in Golpark, South Kolkata. The total number of arrests in this case has now reached 16. Babu Sona, also known as Rahul Das, and Shubankar Roy, who are believed to be associates of the main accused, Sona Pappu, were apprehended by the authorities. Despite Sona Pappu conducting a Facebook Live session, he remains at large as the police have not yet captured him.
Following the incident on Sunday, Babu Sona and Shubhankar went into hiding, but were located by the police based on a tip-off. The authorities are attempting to locate Sona Pappu by questioning the detained individuals. Meanwhile, Sona Pappu has asserted his innocence on social media, claiming he was at home during the incident and has evidence to support his alibi.
The clash between two groups on Kakulia Road in Golpark has stirred tensions in the area, with Sona Pappu and his associates being prominently mentioned by local residents. Allegations have surfaced accusing Sona Pappu’s group of instigating the unrest. Kolkata’s new Police Commissioner, Supratim Sarkar, has issued a stern warning to the perpetrators, emphasizing that no one will be spared for their involvement in the violence.
