The Kolkata Police’s Special Task Force (STF) recovered multiple firearms and apprehended two individuals in Kolkata. Acting on a tip-off, the STF detained two youths from Strand Road, leading to the seizure of several firearms in their possession. Questions have arisen regarding the source and destination of these weapons, prompting a police investigation. The arrested individuals were found carrying large bags filled with firearms, resulting in their arrest under the Arms Act.
Another man, identified as Rajesh Kumar Sau, has been arrested in connection with a similar incident in the Alipore area. He is known to be associated with a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, and the police have recovered nearly 11 firearms from him. Following these incidents, heightened security measures have been implemented in Kolkata since Christmas, particularly in areas with large gatherings during the festive season. Recent shootings in various parts of West Bengal have raised concerns about the presence of firearms in the city.
