Just before India’s one-off Test against England at Lord’s, Kranti Gaud expressed the dream shared by every fast bowler to have their name on the Test honours board. During the Test, the 22-year-old achieved this dream by taking a remarkable five-wicket haul, becoming the first woman to feature on Lord’s prestigious honours board.
Kranti had eagerly anticipated the opportunity to etch her name on the iconic Lord’s Honours Board by taking five wickets. Following her exceptional performance, she was captured on video carefully inscribing her name on the board, a moment witnessed with pride by her family members via video call.
India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, congratulated Kranti’s family and praised her outstanding performance, marking a historic moment in women’s cricket at Lord’s. Kranti’s teammates and support staff gathered around the honours board, applauding her achievement as she made Indian cricket history with her exceptional five-wicket haul.
Kranti’s stellar performance not only secured a significant lead for India but also set several records in women’s Test cricket history. At 22, she became the youngest Indian woman fast bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul in Test cricket, surpassing the previous record set by Jhulan Goswami in 2005.
