Hosts Ladakh secured their inaugural gold medal at the Khelo India Winter Games 2026 by triumphing in the women’s relay quartet 2000 meters short track race at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan Stadium in Leh. Haryana excelled with two additional gold medals in short-track skating, leading the medal standings with four golds overall.

By claiming victory in the 2000m short track relay, Ladakh advanced to the second spot in the medal tally. The Ladakh team, comprising Skarma Tsultim, Shabana Zara, Tasnia Shameem, and Insha Fatima, outperformed competitors from Karnataka and Maharashtra in a race marked by falls and recoveries.

Sachin Singh of Haryana emerged as a standout performer by clinching the men’s 500m short track sprint and aiding his state in securing the 3000 meters short track relay gold, making him the first skater in the event to achieve two gold medals.

Khelo India Winter Games proved fruitful for Nayana Sri Talluri from Telangana, who secured her first gold of KIWG 2026 in the women’s 500m short track, marking her fourth consecutive gold in the 500m short course.
