Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has cautioned about an upcoming significant attack by Russia, involving drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Zelenskyy emphasized the urgent need for the United States to speed up the provision and production of air defense interceptors crucial for safeguarding civilians. He highlighted intelligence reports indicating a high likelihood of a major Russian offensive in the near future.
Zelenskyy disclosed that Russia had been conducting daily assaults and recently carried out a substantial bombardment, including 600 drones and over 30 ballistic missiles. He stressed the critical shortage of ballistic missile defense systems in Ukraine, underscoring the necessity for additional support, particularly anti-ballistic missile systems and interceptors. The Ukrainian leader has requested increased assistance from the White House and the US Congress to address this pressing issue.
The President of Ukraine expressed concerns over the insufficient manufacturing capacity for anti-ballistic missile systems globally. He urged Washington to permit Ukraine to produce Patriot missile components under license, emphasizing the need to ramp up production to meet the rising demand. Zelenskyy also highlighted Russia’s use of drone incidents to test NATO’s responses in neighboring countries, aiming to exert political pressure on the alliance.
