A significant quantity of crude bombs was discovered at a hotel owned by a Trinamool Congress leader in Bolpur, West Bengal. The hotel, situated near Prantik railway station, is owned by Babu Das, the husband of Sangita Das, a Trinamool Congress leader and councillor. Police conducted a thorough search operation at the hotel, but Babu Das remains unaccounted for.
Sources revealed that the crude bombs were allegedly being assembled within the hotel premises. Following specific intelligence, a substantial police team, led by Bolpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rickey Agarwal, conducted the raid. Seven individuals have been detained from the hotel for questioning regarding the recovery of the explosive devices.
Apart from the crude bombs, previous allegations of illicit activities at the hotel, including the operation of a prostitution racket, have surfaced. A senior police official confirmed the discovery of the crude bombs and assured that necessary precautions have been taken, with the area cordoned off. The bombs will be defused by the bomb disposal squad, and investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of involvement and identify other suspects.
State BJP spokesperson Jagannath Chatterjee responded to the incident, stating that the Trinamool Congress leader allegedly used the hotel for party activities and was accused of intimidating locals and extorting money. The Trinamool Congress has not issued an official statement regarding the matter.
