With land routes proving challenging for infiltration, Lashkar-e-Taiba is now considering using water routes, as per recent intelligence reports. Following failed attempts post Operation Sindoor, India has bolstered border security, making infiltration through Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab borders nearly impossible.

The shift to sea routes is driven by Lashkar-e-Taiba’s belief that evading security forces would be easier. This tactic is not new, as the group previously used the sea to enter India, notably seen in the 2008 Mumbai attack.

Specifically targeting Jammu and Kashmir, Lashkar-e-Taiba aims to resume activities, focusing on the Chenab and Tawi rivers in the Jammu sector. Infiltration attempts through these routes involve leveraging fog, darkness, and dense vegetation along the Chenab River.

Officials anticipate the placement of 50 to 100 Pakistani terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, with plans for them to hide in forests before receiving instructions for potential strikes. Exploration of infiltration points like Sir Creek and Harami Nala is also on the agenda, aiming to reach Gujarat and eventually Jammu and Kashmir via road.

While maritime training is being emphasized for potential infiltrators, challenges lie ahead due to intensified border patrolling efforts. The Ministry of Home Affairs highlights the use of watercraft and advanced surveillance equipment to enhance border security.
