The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, faced an attack on his convoy in Chandrakona, West Midnapore district. Adhikari, returning to Kolkata after a political event in Purulia, encountered road blockage by alleged Trinamool Congress activists carrying party flags.
According to Adhikari, the attackers wielded bamboo sticks, targeting his convoy’s bulletproof vehicle. Despite the assault, local police did not intervene. Following the incident, Adhikari sought justice at the Chandrakona police outpost, refusing to leave until the perpetrators were identified and apprehended.
This is not the first instance of such an attack on Adhikari’s convoy. In a previous incident in Cooch Behar town in 2025, individuals associated with the Trinamool Congress attempted to obstruct Adhikari’s vehicles. Fortunately, Adhikari remained unharmed due to the vehicle’s bulletproof glass, with the BJP attributing the attack to Trinamool Congress activists.
At present, Adhikari remains stationed at the Chandrakona police outpost, awaiting further developments.
