The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has partnered with Sahaj Insurance Services Private Limited to boost insurance accessibility in rural and semi-urban regions. Through this collaboration, Sahaj’s digital service network will provide easier access to LIC’s life insurance products and services, aiming to educate and assist consumers, especially in areas with low insurance awareness.
This initiative aims to offer affordable and straightforward insurance products, backed by trained professionals who will guide customers through policy enrollment, servicing, and claims processes. Soumendranath Bandyopadhyay, LIC’s Regional Manager, expressed that this partnership will extend LIC’s reach to more citizens in rural and semi-urban areas, ensuring they benefit from LIC’s security and assurance.
Biswajit Chatterjee, Director of Sahaj Insurance Services Private Limited, highlighted that this collaboration marks a significant stride towards democratizing insurance access, simplifying insurance processes, and fostering inclusivity for the rural population. The joint effort is anticipated to enhance awareness, streamline policy services, and promote wider adoption of life insurance, aligning with India’s financial inclusion and social security objectives.
Sahaj centers will also facilitate access to government-endorsed insurance and social security schemes, in addition to life and health insurance offerings, to deepen financial inclusion. The company aims to sell approximately 10 crore insurance policies in its inaugural year, focusing on affordable and relevant products tailored for rural and semi-urban households. Sahaj Insurance Services operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sahaj Retail under the Kanoria Foundation initiative.
