English football club Liverpool has finalized the acquisition of French defender Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais in Ligue 1. Jacquet, who progressed through the youth system at Rennes, made 33 senior appearances, with 21 of them in the last season, which was shortened due to a shoulder injury in February 2026.
Liverpool secured the 20-year-old’s transfer in January, and he has now penned a five-year deal at Anfield, with the possibility of an additional 12 months pending international clearance. Despite his injury setback, Jacquet is set to join pre-season training from the start.
Expressing his delight at joining Liverpool, Jacquet described it as a dream come true. He expressed his excitement and gratitude, emphasizing the significance of playing for a prestigious club like Liverpool. The young defender’s journey from Rennes’ youth ranks to the Premier League has been marked by his determination and talent.
Jacquet’s rise to Liverpool followed a loan spell at Clermont Foot to enhance his skills. His standout performance at the U19 European Championship in 2024 showcased his potential, culminating in a place in the official Team of the Tournament. His signing represents a significant step in his promising career.
