Voting for local body elections in Gujarat is currently ongoing across municipal corporations, municipalities, district panchayats, and taluka panchayats. Political leaders and voters have actively participated, with BJP state President Jagdish Vishwakarma emphasizing the significance of these elections as a celebration of democracy. In Jamnagar, voting is taking place for the district panchayat, taluka panchayats, and Sikka municipality, with a substantial voter turnout.
In Jamnagar Municipal Corporation, over 4.4 lakh voters are utilizing 474 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) across 414 polling stations. Jamnagar BJP city president Binaben Kothari has encouraged voters to come out in large numbers and exercise their right to vote. In Surat, Deputy Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly Purnesh Modi has also urged public participation, emphasizing the importance of voting.
Former Minister and Mandvi MLA Kunvarji Halpati expressed the need for maximum participation in voting, highlighting the importance of ensuring everyone votes. Bhavnagar district is witnessing elections for 398 local body seats across 1,984 polling booths, with a significant number of registered voters. Bhavnagar Collector and District Magistrate Manish Bansal expects a high voter turnout in the district.
Former BJP MP Mohan Kundariya cast his vote in Morbi district, while Tapi district is conducting polling for 178 local body seats in 755 polling stations. A total of 501 candidates from the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party are contesting in these elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel are among the prominent figures expected to vote in Ahmedabad, with voting scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. using Electronic Voting Machines.
