The Lok Sabha was adjourned until 2 PM on Tuesday due to the Opposition’s continuous disruptions with loud slogans during the Question Hour. Speaker Om Birla initially praised India’s medal winners at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. However, the Opposition MPs began chanting slogans regarding the police’s actions against protestors at Jantar Mantar on July 20.

Speaker Birla announced that the House would address the Public Examinations (Unfair Practices) Amendment Bill, 2026, at 2 p.m. He requested members to maintain decorum during the Question Hour, but the disruptions persisted, leading to the adjournment.

The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, was presented in the Lok Sabha by Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh on Monday. Despite attempts to conduct business, the House faced disturbances and uproar, resulting in a lack of progress.

Upon reconvening at 5 p.m. on Monday, the Chair urged members to engage in a comprehensive discussion on a bill of national significance, emphasizing its impact on the youth. However, the Opposition’s protests continued, causing chaos in the House.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized the importance of discussing the anti-paper leak law, a demand raised by the Opposition. He urged constructive participation from all members, especially the Congress lawmakers, highlighting the significance of the debate for the youth’s future.

Krishna Prasad Tenneti, presiding over the House proceedings, appealed to the Opposition to set aside disruptions and engage in a meaningful discussion on the bill. Despite preparations for a detailed debate, the persistent chaos led to the House’s adjournment.
