This marks the fourth adjournment on Monday due to continuous sloganeering by the Opposition. Dilip Saikia, presiding, attempted to restore order, but the disruptions persisted.
Saikia urged members to sit down for the House to function smoothly and address important issues during Zero Hour. Expressing concern over the behavior affecting democracy, the Chair questioned if the Opposition wanted the House to operate. Despite the Chair’s pleas, the Opposition continued chanting slogans and causing disturbances, leading to the adjournment until 1 p.m.
Following a homage to deceased former MPs by Speaker Om Birla, chaos erupted as the Opposition benches began sloganeering. Stressing the importance of maintaining peace, Speaker Birla emphasized that Parliament is a vital democratic platform where everyone should have the opportunity to speak. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the onset of the Monsoon Session, highlighted the need for experienced parliamentarians to ensure smooth functioning, meaningful discussions, and national progress.
Encouraging productive debates, PM Modi emphasized the importance of solid arguments and evidence in conveying messages effectively. He urged all MPs to participate actively in House proceedings, ensuring every voice is heard and respected, fostering a conducive environment for constructive discussions.
