Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, after the rejection of a no-confidence motion against him, thanked House members for engaging in the debate and sharing their perspectives. He stressed the importance of Parliament’s adherence to established rules and procedures. During the 12-hour discussion on the motion, members had the opportunity to voice their concerns and opinions.

Birla highlighted the significance of the Lok Sabha as a representation of India’s democratic will, emphasizing that members are elected to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of citizens. He mentioned his efforts to ensure all members have a chance to speak and present their views, aiming to strengthen democratic foundations. Birla noted that the Speaker’s office is constitutionally established under Article 93, a position he has held twice, emphasizing transparency, discipline, and adherence to rules in conducting House proceedings.

Addressing the submission of a no-confidence notice by the Opposition on February 10, 2026, Birla mentioned his impartial stance during the ensuing discussions. He expressed gratitude to all members who participated in the debate, regardless of their stance, highlighting the importance of diverse viewpoints in democracy. Birla clarified that while every member has the opportunity to speak, it must align with parliamentary rules and procedures. He reiterated the necessity for the House to operate within established guidelines and parliamentary heritage.
