Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla chaired a meeting in the Kota-Bundi region to enhance wheat procurement at the Minimum Support Price. He urged agencies to increase procurement targets and ensure no farmer is turned away. Birla emphasized the need for swift lifting and unloading of wheat as arrivals are expected to rise.

With a focus on logistics, Birla directed officials to maintain a steady supply of gunny bags for procurement operations. He stressed the importance of coordination among agencies for efficient transportation of wheat to railway yards. Birla also instructed to keep all procurement centers operational until the district-wide target is achieved.

To streamline procurement procedures, Birla called for simplification and improvement in the flow of arrivals at mandis. He emphasized the importance of providing necessary facilities at procurement centers for a smooth and transparent process. Birla also highlighted the need to increase weighing scales, provide essential amenities at mandis, and ensure transparent operations.

During the meeting, Food Corporation of India officials assured comprehensive arrangements to meet procurement targets in the Kota division. They mentioned the utilization of both railway rakes and road transport for wheat transportation. Senior administrative officials, public representatives, and officers from various departments attended the meeting.
