Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is scheduled to represent the Indian government at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Bangladesh government in Dhaka on February 17. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed this participation, emphasizing the strong bond between India and Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party, led by Tarique Rahman, achieved a significant victory in the recent parliamentary elections, marking a new chapter in the country’s leadership.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the historical ties and shared values between India and Bangladesh, expressing support for the democratic transition in Bangladesh under Tarique Rahman’s leadership. The oath-taking ceremony for the members elected in Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliamentary Election is set to take place on February 17. The event will be overseen by Chief Election Commissioner A.M.M. Nasir Uddin in the morning.
Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are underway at the Jatiya Sangsad secretariat, where the elected members will formally assume their roles.
