Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, is set to unveil the first edition of ‘Vidhan-Chetna’, the quarterly journal of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, on May 28. This launch will coincide with the release of the Central Legislative Assembly proceedings spanning 1924–1930 across 89 volumes. Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta highlighted the event’s significance in connecting India’s parliamentary history with its modern legislative development.

The ceremony, to be presided over by Gupta, emphasizes the commitment to preserving institutional heritage while encouraging contemporary democratic discussions. The event will witness the presence of various dignitaries and national leaders, including Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, who will be the Guest of Honour. Delhi Legislative Affairs Minister Parvesh Singh, Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, MLAs, professors from Delhi University, and history scholars are also expected to attend.

Gupta emphasized the dual launch’s importance for researchers, lawmakers, and the public, citing its profound historical and intellectual value. The publication of the Central Legislative Assembly proceedings (1924–1930) serves as a meticulous record of a transformative pre-Independence era in Indian governance, capturing the intense debates and foundational arguments of early parliamentarians.

The introduction of ‘Vidhan-Chetna’ alongside the historic compilation signifies a new platform for analyzing current legislative affairs, constitutional governance, and democratic practices in the National Capital Territory. This event is a significant step in bolstering India’s democratic and parliamentary legacy, as stated in an official announcement. By merging historical insights with contemporary legislative perspectives, the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat aims to promote informed democratic dialogues, preserve institutional memory, and engage the public with parliamentary traditions.
