The Lok Sabha took action by suspending eight opposition MPs for disrupting the House proceedings and throwing papers towards the Chair during the Budget Session. The suspended MPs belong to the Congress party, including names like Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Rahul Gandhi. The suspension came after heavy sloganeering from the opposition benches and led to the adjournment of the House for the day.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi persisted in raising the Ladakh standoff issue, despite objections from the Chair to only cite “authentic sources.” The opposition MPs accused the Centre of misleading the House on the India-China issue, leading to a heated exchange in the Lok Sabha. Gandhi continued to press the issue, citing a magazine article linked to a former Army Chief.
Gandhi, asserting his role as LoP, objected to being denied “permission” to speak in the House. The opposition MPs protested the Chair’s rulings and demanded that Gandhi be allowed to address the issue. Despite repeated interruptions, Gandhi insisted on discussing the conflict between China and India in Eastern Ladakh and criticized the government’s response. Amid the chaos, the House proceedings were repeatedly adjourned.
