London Spirit has named England all-rounder Liam Livingstone as the captain of their men’s team for the upcoming season of The Hundred. Livingstone, known for his explosive performances, brings a wealth of experience from international cricket and various franchise leagues to the role. His leadership is expected to guide the team towards success in the competition.
Livingstone expressed his excitement about leading London Spirit at Lord’s this summer, emphasizing the iconic venue and the passionate fans. As a key player in the inaugural edition, where he was named the Most Valuable Player, Livingstone’s track record includes impressive performances, such as helping Birmingham Phoenix reach the final and achieving significant run-scoring milestones.
Apart from his success in The Hundred, Livingstone has been a vital part of England’s white-ball setup, representing his country in various formats. His remarkable ability to influence games was highlighted by his record-breaking T20I century against Pakistan in 2021. The decision to appoint Livingstone as captain has received strong support from London Spirit’s management, recognizing his pivotal role in the team’s long-term goals.
London Spirit also announced their coaching and support staff for the upcoming campaign, with head coach Andy Flower leading the team. The coaching lineup includes former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik as batting coach and mentor, ex-England spinner Graeme Swann as spin bowling coach, former New Zealand player Andre Adams overseeing the pace bowlers, and Richard Halsall as the fielding and wicketkeeping coach.
