Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain and two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen will lead the 20-member Indian team at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 in Mongolia from March 28 to April 11. The squad, finalized after a rigorous evaluation process, includes players from the national camp in Patiala post the National Championships in January. The championship holds significance as it offers a chance for direct entries to the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games 2026 based on performance.
Lovlina Borgohain, fresh from her gold win at the Boxam Elite 2026 Championship in Spain, will headline the women’s team alongside other gold medalists from Spain like Preeti, Arundhati Choudhary, and Priya. The women’s squad also features world champions Minakshi and Jaismine. The men’s team is led by gold medalists Sachin and Akash from recent championships, supported by other medalists like Deepak and Ankush.
The Indian squad, a mix of experienced and emerging talent, aims to perform strongly at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 and set the tone for the 2026 season. With a track record of success at international events, including nine gold medals at the Boxam Elite 2026 in Spain, India’s boxing team is poised for a competitive showing at the upcoming championships.
BFI President Ajay Singh expressed confidence in the selected boxers, emphasizing their form, discipline, and ability to handle pressure. The team’s preparations have been closely monitored by Head Coaches Santiago Nieva (Women) and CA Kuttappa (Men) along with the support staff. India’s boxing progress is evident from consistent top-three finishes at world events, showcasing the nation’s growing prowess in the sport.
