Lucknow Super Giants’ captain, Rishabh Pant, has been fined Rs 12 lakh for a slow over-rate in their IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings at Ekana Stadium. This penalty was issued under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, marking LSG’s first minimum over-rate offense this season.
The IPL stated, “Rishabh Pant, Captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), was fined for a slow over-rate during Match No. 59 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.” This was the team’s initial offense under Article 2.22, resulting in the fine of INR 12 lakhs.
In a remarkable performance, LSG defeated Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets, propelled by Akash Singh’s three-wicket haul, Mitchell Marsh’s explosive 90 off 38 balls, and Nicholas Pooran’s late blitz. CSK had set a target of 187/5, with Kartik Sharma scoring 71 and Shivam Dube contributing an unbeaten 32, but LSG’s strong batting, led by Marsh and Josh Inglis, secured the victory.
