Lucknow Super Giants’ senior pacer Mohammed Shami highlighted the importance of maintaining tight lines during powerplay overs for fast-bowling success. Despite being out of the IPL 2026 playoffs race, LSG faced Chennai Super Kings at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium. Shami stressed the need for bowlers to identify batters’ weaknesses early and consistently hit hard lengths to contain them during the powerplay.
Reflecting on the pitches in Lucknow this season, Shami, who has taken nine wickets in 11 games, expressed satisfaction with the tracks’ positive response. He noted the consistency in pitch behavior since the beginning, expecting it to offer steady bounce without significant changes.
In his role as the leader of the bowling attack, Shami discussed mentoring young fast bowlers by setting an example with his own performance and providing immediate feedback on pitch conditions. He praised the young bowlers for their receptiveness to suggestions and willingness to apply them in pressure situations, describing them as eager learners.
While acknowledging Lucknow Super Giants’ struggles this season, with the team at the bottom of the points table, Shami commended his teammates’ positive approach and hard work. Despite unfavorable results, he emphasized the importance of giving maximum effort and maintaining a strong work ethic, highlighting the team’s commitment to the game.
